There is a lot to be said for never giving up as Cameron Smith found out to his benefit. Two back with two to play at the Sony Open, Smith hung in there with a sublime birdie at 18 to force a playoff with a faltering Brendan Steele.
It was over quickly as a simple par at the first extra hole sealed an unexpected win for Smith. A valuable lesson learnt for both players - next time you feel your game is going against you, don’t throw in the towel as you never know what the next hole may bring.
